Case study · Our own product
Queenstown in your pocket, even with no signal.
Queenstown Pocket puts a whole Queenstown trip in one app: the buses, the walks, the ski fields, what’s on and where to eat. It keeps working when your phone loses signal. It is our own product, so every decision in it was ours to make.

Six apps, and no signal.
A day in Queenstown can mean one app for the bus, one for the walking track, one for the snow, one for food and a browser for everything else.
Then the signal drops. It goes on the Glenorchy road, halfway up Ben Lomond and on the ski field roads, which are exactly the places visitors are heading.
So we put the whole trip in one place, and made it work offline.
One app instead of six.
Catch the right bus.
Every Orbus route and stop, the next departures, the airport bus and a trip planner, all from the official timetable.
Pick a walk that suits the day.
Fifty walks with the distance, time and grade, whether the track is open, and the nearest bus stop.
Know before you head up.
All four ski fields, with season dates, passes and the ski buses, taken from each field’s own pages.
See what’s on.
What’s happening around town, with dates you can add straight to your calendar.
Find somewhere good.
Places to eat and things to do, booked on the operator’s own website.
Works with no signal.
Save a map, timetable or track before you leave town, and it still opens when your phone has no bars.
Six questions. One plan.
Not sure where to start? Answer six quick questions, skip any you like, and the app builds a day-by-day plan with something for the morning, the afternoon and the evening.
It checks what a local friend would check. It won’t send you somewhere on a day it’s closed, and it won’t plan anything that cuts into getting to your flight.
Already live on the web.
No need to wait for the app. The walks, buses, ski fields, events and guides already work on the website, free and with nothing to download. Choose Save for offline and a page stays on your phone for when the signal drops.

Works without signal
Everything you need on the day is kept on the phone, so maps, timetables and tracks still open in the hills.
- 02
Checked, not copied
Every walk, price and timetable shows where it came from and when it was last checked.
- 03
One set of facts
The app and the website share the same content, so a correction made once shows up in both.
What’s next
The app launches on iPhone and Android on 1 November 2026. Until then, the website is the place to try it.
